Nathan’s Miles Glow Run 2024
We are proud to announce the 4th Annual Nathan’s Miles Glow Fun Run 5K!!! This is a great, affordable family event. Last year there were over 200 participants and Nathan’s Miles Foundation was able to give TWO $2,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors from Vinton-Shellsburg through registrations and generous donations!! There will be a Kids Glow Run at 6:15pm, and then the 5K begins at 7:00pm. You can register for the event at the link below. **To be guaranteed a shirt, you must register by Sunday, September 22, 2024!** Let’s get out and get our FUN RUN ON!!!!! **This is an untimed event, that is for fun and enjoyment. If you want to time yourself feel free, but there are no prizes for placing in this race**

Viking Wrestling Club
The Viking Wrestling club is designed to help area youth improve their wrestling skills, be part of a team, and build a foundation for future wrestling activities. There will be several optional opportunities throughout the season to attend tournaments and dual meets across Iowa in preparation for AAU and Super Pee Wee District and State competitions. None of these events are required – just attending practices is fine too! NEW this year we will be adding a GIRLS ONLY practice on Monday nights!

Go Further Girls in STEM Conference
The Go Further Girls in STEM Conference is for all students in grades 8-10 to interact with STEM role models, learn about various STEM fields and opportunities at Iowa State, develop confidence, and be empowered to pursue STEM careers. Tuesday Transition Topic Night
We are having our first Tuesday Transition Topics on September 17 from 5-7 in the high school library. We will have guests discussing guardianship/conservatorship and waivers/Medicaid. The purpose of Tuesday Transition Topics is to provide resources and information to parents and assist them through the special education transition process.

Tanager Expressive Arts
After school activity at the Vinton Public Library. Trained staff from Tanager will provide ways to express ourselves. “That expression can occur through music, painting, dance, poetry, clay, acting or another art form. Expressive arts are a powerful intervention for children and families that has shown to boost self-confidence, develop inner strengths, and explore emotions.”
